REVIEW:
GolfTest USA had the opportunity prior to the PGA Show in January to play several of the top courses in the Orlando area. Osprey Ridge at Disney World was the tops without question. Even though it was their busiest time of the year, Jim Kern, Director of Golf, was able to get us out early in the morning. Once we teed off Hole # 1 we could tell we were going to enjoy the course and the wonderful scenery. This is definitely not your typical course with houses and condos lining the fairways. We were in the woods and it was beautiful and serene. We were surrounded by tall pines and the wildlife was abundant. All the staff was very personable and friendly and we could tell that their intention was to make sure we had an enjoyable golf experience. The course was well maintained and it was exciting anticipating what views and challenges awaited us on each new hole. The rough was very mild as we assume this is an effort to keep play moving along. We realize this is a popular tourist area so we understood that the pace of play would challenge our patience. While the round took 5 hours to complete we took solace in being able to relax between holes and take in all the beauty of nature that the designers of Osprey Ridge made sure to leave intact while carving out this wonderful golf course. In summary we close with this comment. “If you visit Orlando and you are a golfer, play Osprey Ridge.”
